New York Mets Have Postponements Due to COVID-19

Two members of the New York Mets organization tested positive for COVID-19 last Thursday while the team was in Miami to play the Marlins. As a result, Thursday’s game against the Marlins was postponed as well as the entire three-game Subway Series between the Mets and Yankees that was scheduled to be played this past weekend.

The Mets flew home to New York on Thursday night. Meanwhile, both members who tested positive—as well as anyone who was determined to have been in close contact with them—have remained quarantined in Miami since Thursday.

On Saturday, the Mets announced that all coronavirus tests taken Thursday night and Friday morning have come back negative, meaning the team has not yet had other virus cases.

MLB has postponed 36 games this season because of positive tests among the Mets, Marlins, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds.
