The PGA Tour will "continue with its stop at Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa for the next six years," as cybersecurity solutions company Fortinet "will become the title sponsor of the Napa Valley tournament, to be named the Fortinet Championship," according to Marty James of the NAPA VALLEY REGISTER. The Fortinet Championship will be the "opening event" of the PGA Tour’s '21-22 regular-season schedule. The Fortinet Championship replaces the Safeway Open, which was played at Silverado for five years. Safeway "elected not to continue as the title sponsor" (NAPA VALLEY REGISTER, 4/1). In S.F., Ron Kroichick notes the tournament in Napa had "teetered on the brink of extinction, after Safeway chose not to renew its sponsorship deal when it expired last fall" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 4/1).
