JENNIFER RIZZOTTI has been named the new president of the WNBA Connecticut Sun, where she will be "tasked with overseeing overall business operations and marketing strategies for the team," according to Alexa Philippou of the HARTFORD COURANT. Rizzotti joins the franchise as president following the recent departure of former Mohegan Sun VP/Sports AMBER COX, who now is K.C. NWSL COO. Rizzotti earned a pair of WNBA championships with the Houston Comets in '99 and '00 and was inducted into the Women’s Basketball HOF in '13. Following her playing career, she spent 17 seasons as Univ. of Hartford women's basketball coach before leaving to coach at George Washington, where she went 72-74 over the last five years (HARTFORD COURANT, 4/21). Rizzotti was "fired in March as head coach at George Washington after a 9-14 season and just one trip to the NCAA tournament" (AP, 4/20).
