Digital media platform Just Women’s Sports announced a $3.5 million seed round led by Will Ventures. The round also includes investments from Kevin Durant’s Thirty Five Ventures, Drive by DraftKings, the WNBA’s Elena Delle Donne and Arike Ogunbowale, USWNT players Kelley O’Hara and Sam Mewis, and the NWHL’s Hilary Knight .
Haley Rosen, a former All-Pac 12 soccer midfielder at Stanford who previously worked at sports VR company STRIVR, founded Just Women’s Sports in 2020 to improve and increase media coverage of female athletes, who only account for 4% of all sports coverage. Rosen will become a regular guest on Durant’s “Out of Office” podcast, which he co-hosts with his business partner Rich Kleiman.
Just Women’s Sports is home to several podcasts, including an eponymous one hosted by O’Hara and another hosted by Mewis and USWNT teammate Lynn Williams . Tea with A & Phee, a Just Women’s Sports podcast hosted by WNBA stars A’ja Wilson and Napheesa Collier , will debut on May 27.
