Sportway, a Swedish automated production company, established a recent partnership with the Czech Ice Hockey Association to install its AI-powered cameras in 50 arenas. Games will be livestreamed for fans; data and video analysis tools will be available for coaches.
Sportway collaborates with its live production partner, Live Arena, and uses panoramic cameras to follow the action and create a broadcast-quality feed. There are nearly 500 such installations across Europe, with the CIHA the first to partner at large scale outside of the Nordics. Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway are the other national hockey associations to work with Sportway.
Also available to the hockey leagues is a Situation Room feature in which high-resolution footage of the entire ice surface can be viewed and scrubbed with a joystick. That enables officials to review video for player safety and sport integrity issues, with the option for integration into Microsoft Teams for live deliberations.
