The Univ. of Tennessee's ongoing Neyland Stadium renovations will âbring back tradition and add high-tech features under the latest versionâ of AD Danny White's project to âimprove the fan experience,â according to Mike Wilson of the Knoxville NEWS SENTINEL. The plan includes a ânew stadium WiFi networkâ and âimprovements to the south end entrances and south concourse.â Among the elements that will be completed prior to the â22 season include a âstanding-room-only section underneath a new north end video board, and and an improved south end video board to match the new one on the north endâ and a ânew âpremiumâ seating experience behind the Vols bench.â The plan and budget âwere approvedâ Thursday by the finance committee. Since White arrived at UT in January â21, he has âlong been interested in how facilities and fans interact,â and Thursday's plan is the âlatest step.â The renovations include a â12,000-square-foot indoor club space that will be functionalâ in â22, but "not in its final form." The north plaza area will include âtiered seating and additional food and beverage services.â To come over the course of the next four years are additional improvements, including âadditional bathrooms, including more for women, additional concession stands and widened concourses.â White told sources that UT âwants the WiFi to be free.â Tennessee has âupdated its plans to renovate skyboxes with operable windows and improved interiors.â The first phase is âexpected to be doneâ by Fall â26 (Knoxville NEWS SENTINEL, 6/24). The SENTINELâs Wilson in a separate piece wrote the stadiumâs capacity will decrease to 101,915 for the â22 season after some renovations are completed. The previous capacity was 102,455 (Knoxville NEWS SENTINEL, 6/24).
