Kollektiv, an athlete training app co-founded by Danish Olympic triathlete Helle Frederiksen and her husband Ben Powell-Frederiksen, has raised about $1.5 million (11m Danish Krone) in pre-seed funding. The round was co-led by Copenhagen-based Ugly Duckling Ventures and VF Ventures, with participation from former BBC media executive Kerstin Mogull.
Helle Frederiksen represented Denmark in the 2012 Summer Olympics and won the ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships in 2018, while her husband Ben is the former CMO of global cycling brand CeramicSpeed. Kollektiv’s app targets athletes of all levels across endurance sports such as swimming, cycling, and running and connects them with personalized training plans created by world-class coaches and ex-professional athletes who join the app.
Kollektiv reports having secured about $160,000 in revenue since its beta testing launch began in Feb. 2020, according to European technology news site Tech.EU. The Kollektiv app reportedly has users from across 55 countries.
