Sportradar will be the organizer of a new amateur basketball tournament that will feature data-driven scouting of elite prospects and be held in Las Vegas concurrently with the NBA Summer League. The Sportradar Showdown will run from July 13-16 and include 17 total teams: eight from the Under Armour Association, eight from Adidas 3Stripes Gold Basketball (3SGB) and one NBA Academy Select squad comprised of international players in the NBA Academy system.
The tournament will use a pool play format to guarantee three opening round games for each of the 16 teams in the main draw following a play-in game. Advanced data will be collected on every player via the new Actionable Insights product from Sportradar-owned Synergy Sports. Among the metrics will be shot quality, player comps, adjusted team stats and player impact, with the data being made available for NBA scouts and college recruiters.
