NASCAR's regular season wrapped up yesterday with Kevin Harvick winning the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and seven-time Cup champion Jimmie Johnson "did not qualify" for the playoffs for the first time in his career. IMS President Doug Boles said yesterday that advance ticket sales had "topped 50,000 for the 235,000-seat venue." He "got little help with walk-up attendance," as rain "cropped up about an hour before the start of the race" ( USA TODAY, 9/9 ).
