Pistons-Nuggets Postponed 15 Minutes Before Tip Due To COVID

Last night’s Pistons-Nuggets game was postponed “less than 15 minutes before tip” due to a “positive or inconclusive test on Detroit’s side,” according to a source. After both teams “went through routine pregame shooting routines, with dozens of players working out and getting shots up, all team personnel and players were cleared from the court as the regular start time approached.” This is the 23rd COVID-related postponement in the NBA so far this season (DENVER POST, 2/2). It marks the “second time this season the Pistons have had a game postponed because of the NBA's contact tracing rules” (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 2/2).

Meanwhile, the NHL announced the Devils will have at least their next three games postponed after 10 players have been placed on the league’s COVID-19 list. If “no further games are postponed, the Devils could return to play on Tuesday, Feb. 9” (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 2/2).
