The MLBPA has hired Amy Hever, an exec with more than 20 years of experience in growing nonprofits, as its new Players Trust Dir. Hever most recently served as Exec VP/Social Responsibility for the 76ers and Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment. In that role, she helped to launch the Wilt Chamberlain Memorial Fund and Sixers Youth Foundation. She has worked on behalf of a broad range of organizations and causes, including the Smithsonian Institution’s Asian Pacific American Center, the Morikami Museum & Japanese Gardens, Cathedral Healthcare and Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark and the American Red Cross.
The Players Trust is the charitable arm of the union, which helps MLB players to donate their time and money all over the world. It donates more than $1M a year and has helped players activate relief efforts around the hurricanes of '17 and, more recently, pandemic relief.
