"Equal Pay" banner in place as USWNT tops Mexico

The USWNT "completed its run-up to the Olympics" yesterday, with 27,758 spectators on hand the 4-0 victory over Mexico at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford, Conn. An “Equal Play = Equal Pay” banner behind the south goal "was in place." This comes after Thursday's match, when a "miscommunication between the U.S. Soccer Federation and the American Outlaws supporters group about its placement forced a pregame removal, a move that created a stir on social media." The U.S. team went ahead early, just as fans began chanting “Equal pay!” -- a "common refrain at home matches" since the '19 Women's World Cup (WASHINGTON POST, 7/6).
