Packed house on Belle Isle. Awesome to see a huge crowd for one final @Indycar race on the island before we move this race to downtown Detroit.

Shoutout to Motor City race fans!
Will Power won yesterday's NTT IndyCar Series Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix, which marked the "final IndyCar race on Belle Isle’s 13-turn, 2.3-mile street course." The race "will return to downtown Detroit next year" after it had been on Belle Isle since '92. Driver Alexander Rossi: "I will be sad to see it go, but I think this series thrives on events in cities. You see that with Nashville coming on, and obviously St. Pete, Toronto, Long Beach. It will be a great thing for the series, but from a driver’s standpoint, I will certainly miss this place.” Scott Dixon: “I’m looking forward to the next generation and going downtown. I think there’s always been some issue with that bridge connecting this place and getting people here, so hopefully that changes" (DETROIT NEWS, 6/6). Full weekend attendance was expected to hit nearly 100,000 (WXYZ.com, 6/5).
