Scottish Open bans overturned for 3 LIV golfers

Ian Poulter, Justin Harding and Adrian Otaegui have "controversially been reinstated" in this week’s Scottish Open after lawyers were "successful in overturning" their bans from the DP World Tour for appearing in the LIV Golf series. The case was heard in the International Dispute Resolution Centre by Sports Resolutions, the "non-profit, independent UK body that quickly settles disputes without the necessity to go to the High Court" (London TELEGRAPH, 7/5).

The Scottish Open is being "co-sanctioned for the first time by the DP World Tour as well as the PGA Tour." DP World Tour CEO Keith Pelley "expressed disappointment in the outcome of the hearing" and said that his tour "will abide by the decision but also noted that 'this is only a stay of the sanctions imposed, pending the hearing of the players’ appeal as to whether those sanctions were appropriate'" (GOLFWEEK.com, 7/4). The field for the Scottish Open "will be increased beyond 156 players to accommodate the late entries" (GOLFCHANNEL.com, 7/4).
