The Class AAA International League’s Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Pa.) RailRiders promoted Jeremy Ruby to general manager and Josh Olerud to chief operating officer. Olerud was executive vice president and general manager of the Class A Carolina League’s Potomac Nationals.

The independent Pacific Association’s San Rafael (Calif.) Pacifics promoted Kim McGinnis to vice president of sales and marketing and Bill Spiller to vice president of operations and community fund chair.

The Pittsburgh Pirates promoted Ron Hopkins and Matt Ruebel to special assistants to the general manager.

The Class AAA Pacific Coast League’s Nashville Sounds promoted Amy Schoch to vice president of human resources, Chris Sprunger to vice president of ticket operations, Brandon Yerger to assistant general manager and Doug Scopel to vice president of operations and hired Paul Hemingway as vice president of corporate sales and marketing. Hemingway was senior manager of corporate partnership for the Buffalo Bills.

The Detroit Tigers hired Jay Sartori as senior director of baseball operations. Sartori was assistant general manager for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Jim Weyermann resigned from his position as Golden State Warriors vice president of new franchise development and president of the NBA D-League Santa Cruz Warriors.

Colleges

University of Minnesota associate athletic director Mike Ellis resigned from his position.

Wentworth Institute of Technology hired Cheryl Aaron as athletic director. Aaron was associate athletic director at University of Massachusetts Boston.

Fresno State University hired Carrie Coll as senior associate athletic director for sport services. Coll was Mountain West Conference associate commissioner of championships.

The United Soccer League named Tom Veit chief marketing officer. Veit was president of the Philadelphia Union.

Manchester United hired Cliff Baty as chief financial officer. Baty was Sportech chief financial officer and board of directors member.

Sporting Goods and Apparel

Apparel and headwear brand ’47 named Scott Pierce collegiate brand manager.

Other

Korn Ferry hired Kyle Bowlsby for its sports practice. Bowlsby was SportsDesk Media manager of business development.

Drew Iddings stepped down as director of promotions and planning at The Hershey Co. David Palmer was named to replace him.

Harvard Group International hired Mark Mayleben as executive search consultant for its global sports and entertainment practice and Jeff Doyle as managing director for its media, marketing and agency practice and its global sports and entertainment practice.

Don Gold stepped down from his position as UFC executive vice president of entertainment.

Awards and Boards

The U.S. Soccer Foundation appointed Jim Messina to its board of directors.

The International Tennis Hall of Fame named to its board of governors Lakshman Charanjiva, Guy Forget, Tom Glocer, Bob Jeffrey, Brad Parks, Lara Spencer, Dana Tananbaum, Gary Tolman and Kurt Wright.
