- Each round of the WGC-Workday Championship saw an audience gain over 2020 for NBC and Golf Channel last week, per SBJ's Austin Karp. NBC averaged 2.93 million viewers for the final round from Bradenton on Sunday, which saw Collin Morikawa win by three strokes. That is up 5% from the comparable final round of the WGC-Mexico Championship last year, which was in late February (2.8 million for Patrick Reed's one-stroke win over Bryson DeChambeau).
- Daktronics released its Q3 financials today, showing a $236,000 operating loss following a slight drop in revenue but a 28% cut in operating expenses, per SBJ's Bret McCormick. Daktronics reported a loss of more than $9 million during the same quarter in 2020.
- Fanatics today appointed Magic Johnson to its BOD, joining WW Int’l CEO Mindy Grossman and Storch Advisors Founder & CEO Jerry Storch as independent board members. This is the latest of many sports business endeavors for the Basketball HOFer, who holds ownership interests in the Dodgers, WNBA L.A. Sparks, LAFC and esports franchise Team Liquid. Johnson also is an investor in ShotTracker, a maker of wearable tech for basketball.
