T-Mobile is making an aggressive sponsorship push for its business side, signing a four-year sponsorship with the PGA of America to be its first telecom sponsor, reports SBJ's Terry Lefton.
Several sources pegged the deal at around $10 million per year, including value of the technology and installation, along with rights fees. T-Mobile looks to use its sports properties as a 5G showcase, and activation plans include 5G-enabled data in and around the driving range and practice facilities at PGA events. It will also install a number of 5G-powered capabilities at the PGA’s Frisco, Texas, HQ. The deal includes hospitality and large media buys on CBS, ESPN and NBC at PGA championships, digital and social inventory and "Club Magenta" hospitality at PGA events.
