The Senators have appointed Steve Staiosas the team's GM, "removing the interim tag from the title he held." In addition, former NHL exec Dave Poulin has been named SVP/Hockey Operations and Ryan Bowness has been named associate GM, having been the GM of the Senators' AHL farm team the Belleville Senators. The move "comes as owner Michael Andlauer looks to right his struggling team" (CP, 12/31).
This decision "allows Andlauer to have the structure in place he wants to help this club get to the next level." Poulin and Bowness "will be able to give Staios the support he needs to make the right decisions for this team," and these moves "will help set the course for what Andlauer wants to see this club achieve." The decision to put Staios in the full-time seat as GM "gives the club structure and stability in its front office" (TORONTO SUN, 12/31).
