Columbus set to host SheBelieves Cup final

The USWNT will compete in Columbus when Lower.com Field hosts the 2024 SheBelieves Cup Championship and third-place matchup on April 9. An official announcement from the federation "is expected to be made on Friday." The SheBelieves Cup is U.S. Soccer's annual invitational tournament, and the field includes the U.S., Canada, Brazil and Japan. This marks the ninth iteration of the tournament. Kicking off the tournament at Merecedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, the USWNT will open against Japan on April 6. This year's format has been slightly "altered due to the FIFA competition windows." The SheBelieves Cup "usually takes place in February or March across six matches, but the 2024 edition will feature only four" (COLUMBUS DISPATCH, 1/19).

In Atlanta, grass "will be installed" at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the USWNT opener against Japan. This will mark the third time the U.S. women will play in Atlanta. The team played twice at the Georgia Dome (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 1/19).
