The Suns have chosen a name for their G League team, the Valley Suns, which will play home games for the inaugural 2024-25 season at Arizona State’s Mullett Arena, according to Duane Rankin of the ARIZONA REPUBLIC. The Suns had an online contest for fans to name the G League team and Valley Suns was a "popular choice" with “more than 12,000 entries.” A random fan was selected as the “winner to receive season tickets for the 2024-25 season.” The Suns have not had a G League team since the Northern Arizona Suns played four seasons with their final one in 2019-20 in Prescott Valley. The Suns, under former owner Robert Sarver, sold the team to the Pistons as the franchise “didn’t feel a need to have a G League squad.” The Suns were the "only NBA franchise without a G League team" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 5/22).
