WaPo's Jenkins wins women's sports coverage award

Washington Post sportswriter Sally Jenkins won the inaugural Billie Jean King Award for Excellence in Women’s Sports Coverage. Jenkins was the winner among eight finalists for her work in 2023, which included her profile on tennis legends Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova and columns on the women who spoke out against former Commanders owner Daniel Snyder, the FIFA World Cup and the NCAA Women's Final Four. King will present the award to Jenkins during the U.S. Open. Jenkins was also awarded the Dan Jenkins Medal for Excellence in Sportswriting for the feature on Evert and Navratilova. The award is handed out by The Center for Sports Communication & Media at the Univ. of Texas (WASHINGTON POST, 8/16).
