Nike releases second signature shoe for Grizzlies' Ja Morant

Grizzles G Ja Morant’s second signature shoe, the Nike Ja 2, is set to be released today, according to Damichael Cole of the Memphis COMMERCIAL APPEAL. Morant's first release will be the “induction” Ja 2, which “pays homage" to Morant joining Murray State's HOF this past summer. The first shoe will be available on SNKRS and in select markets like Memphis today. More Ja 2 apparel “will be available on Oct. 8 as well as the global release of the shoe.” Initial retail price will be $120. Morant had a “very on-hands approach with design and colorways." Nike designers created a “second-generation silhouette with the idea of maximizing comfort and support.” The silhouette contains a “sidewall guardrail designed to maximize protection and stabilization.” The low-top design “draws comparisons to the Ja 1 and other sneakers of prominent Nike basketball athletes.” Morant will use the different colorways on the Ja 2 to "reflect his rise to prominence as Nike basketball's first Gen Z signature athlete" (Memphis COMMERCIAL APPEAL, 9/25).
