The Univ. of Houston announced yesterday that the Michael and Rebecca Cemo Family Foundation has given a $10M gift to the school’s athletic department, with the funds "earmarked for the construction and maintenance of the Memorial Hermann Football Operations Center," which is scheduled to open next summer (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 10/9).
PURE Pickleball & Padel is planning to open as "the world's largest pickleball facility" in Scottsdale in 2026. In addition to 50 courts, the facility will have VIP rooms, a pro shop, youth areas, exercise and recovery equipment, a full restaurant, rooftop bar and a 1,200-seat championship court with broadcast booths for professional matches (AXIOS, 10/9).
The T-Wolves' lone preseason game at the Target Center -- scheduled for Friday, Oct. 18 -- "has been moved" to Thursday, Oct. 17 at 7pm CT after it conflicted with Game 4 of the WNBA Finals between the Minnesota Lynx and N.Y. Liberty. That Game 4 would be at the Target Center, if necessary, in the best-of-five series (MINNESOTA STAR TRIBUNE, 10/9).
