Univ. of North Carolina football coach Bill Belichick’s decision to have his team appear on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” offseason show “seems to be another effort by Belichick to create the kind of buzz that will get him back in the NFL,” according to Mike Florio of NBCSPORTS.com. Sources indicated that Belichick “aggressively pursued” the assignment as it “becomes a valuable infomercial for both Belichick and the Tar Heels.” The move “flows from the close-knit relationship” between Belichick and NFL Films VP & Exec Producer Ken Rodgers. The move “could test Rodgers’ juice,” as some NFL owners “aren’t thrilled with the decision to feature Belichick on an NFL-owned platform.” Florio: “It’s fair for every single NFL owner to raise a simple question. What’s in it for us?” (NBCSPORTS.com, 3/1).
