The Basketball HOF has revealed its Class of 2025, featuring nine inductees who will be celebrated during the Enshrinement festivities on September 5-6. Inductees include the 2008 U.S. Olympic Men’s Basketball Team, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Sue Bird, Sylvia Fowles, Maya Moore, Heat owner Micky Arison, coach Billy Donovan and referee Danny Crawford. The Class of 2025 will be enshrined during festivities in Springfield, Mass., as well as at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn. (Basketball HOF).
Since acquiring the Heat in 1995, Arison has led the franchise to three NBA championships (2006, ‘12, ‘13) and seven Eastern Conference titles (Basketball HOF). Arison said, “For some, this is an individual honor. But for me, this speaks to what our entire Heat family -- players, coaches, staff and fans -- have built together” (AP, 4/5). The Heat entered this season with a 1,316-995 (.569) record since Arison’s first full season operating the team -- the best in the Eastern Conference and second-best in the NBA. Arison said, “My management style is get the best people and let them go to work and don’t get in their way. … I think the best owners are the most invisible owners and I’d rather be invisible than be up here” (MIAMI HERALD, 4/5).
