NBC showed 59 of JJ Spaun’s 72 shots on Sunday en route to his first major title as he captured the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club, the third most among all players. SBJ tracked NBC’s shot total from WCNC-NBC in Charlotte, as the network showed 453 shots across 27 players. SBJ’s tracking window began at 2pm ET, just before the leaders teed off. NBC came on the air at 1.
Sam Burns (70) and Adam Scott (65) had the most shots shown on Sunday, as NBC’s coverage had a more than 90-minute weather delay between 4:02pm and when play resumed at 5:38pm. Burns and Scott were in the final pairing but fell out of contention over the closing holes.

Spaun having fewer shots shown came as he fell as many as four behind the leaders midway through the round. Playing in the penultimate pairing, NBC stayed with Spaun early in the round, showing 27 of his 29 shots over the first six holes despite him making five bogeys over that stretch. NBC locked back in on Spaun as he made four birdies in the last seven holes to secure the title.
Despite finishing second and two strokes behind Spaun, Robert MacIntyre had the ninth-most shots of the day with just 20 seen on NBC. That’s not surprising, though, as at one point he was five behind the lead and according to Data Golf, had just a 0.3% chance of winning. MacIntyre played his final 10 holes in 3 under.
