Longtime sports venue executive Doug Thornton is stepping into a new role at Legends Global, becoming the company’s President, Venue Planning Services.
In the new position, Thornton will work closely with Legends Global’s CSL, Business Development and Owners’ Rep teams in support of current and prospective North American clients’ venue development and renovation projects. Thornton will transition from his job leading the company’s North America venue management division, which he held since Legends Global acquired ASM Global in August 2024.
Thornton joined SMG -- a precursor to ASM Global -- in 1997, working out of New Orleans, where he was closely involved with the Superdome. Legends Global has identified Thornton’s successor to lead the venue management business, with an announcement expected soon.
