Boston World Cup organizers on Tuesday “announced a new $95 round-trip shuttle bus service to Gillette Stadium,” adding to the travel options available for soccer fans as “demand for matchday travel has surged,” according to Nick Stoico of the BOSTON GLOBE. FIFA World Cup Boston officials said in a statement that the service, dubbed the Boston Stadium Express, will “run direct routes from more than 20 pickup locations, including Logan International Airport, Providence, and dozens of hotels.” Gillette Stadium is about 22 miles south of Boston. Officials said that the bus service is “expected to carry up to 10,000 fans to per match.” Buses will “begin running three hours before kickoff, and return trips start 30 minutes after matches end.” Tickets for the Boston Stadium Express bus “must be booked in advance and go on sale Tuesday.” Officials said bus tickets can “only be purchased by fans with a valid same-day FIFA World Cup match ticket.” The MBTA’s World Cup designated trains cost $80 roundtrip and are capped at 20,000 tickets per match day (BOSTON GLOBE, 4/14).
