POYNTER’s Tom Jones writes on Friday, the Washington Post “posted an opening” for a position in sports with the job title “National Sports Reporter.” The job description includes in part: “This role is designed for a reporter who sees sports as a powerful lens into the forces shaping the country, including politics, culture and business.” Jones writes it “sounds like an interesting job, for sure.” Jones: “It’s just curious that they would advertise for this now after recently letting go of some of the most talented sports journalists on the planet” (POYNTER, 4/20).

NEW GIG: Women’s sports reporter Annie Costabile has joined The Athletic as its national women’s basketball writer. Her first day is Monday (X, 4/20). Costabile had previously worked at Front Office Sports, and prior to that had spent seven years at the Chicago Sun-Times (SBJ).

JOINING THE TEAM: USA TODAY’s Meghan Hall wrote USA Network “has tapped” veteran sideline reporter and analyst Terrika Foster-Brasby, who has been a grassroots voice in the WNBA space for “over a decade,” to join its 2026 broadcast team. USA Sports will host Wednesday night doubleheaders during the WNBA regular season, beginning May 13 (USA TODAY, 4/18).
