In Hartford, Emily Adams noted “nearly 1,500 season-ticket holders” showed up to Mohegan Sun Arena on Sunday to watch the Sun host their annual open practice and meet-and-greet to kick off the 2026 WNBA season. Lines to see players “wrapped around the length of the court for nearly an hour.” While the excitement from the season-ticket holders “was palpable Sunday, there was also an atmosphere of bittersweet nostalgia in the knowledge that this upcoming season is their last chance to have these kinds of experiences,” with the Sun set to move to Houston (HARTFORD COURANT, 4/28).
NOT LEAVING: Heat President Pat Riley on Monday said that he is “not going anywhere.” Riley added that he does “not feel diminished or deterred by a management structure” that has him now, as it has been for the past decade and a half, answering to CEO Nick Arison, the son of Heat owner Micky Arison. Riley said, “Micky and Nick will decide whether or not I age out” (SOUTH FLORIDA SUN-SENTINEL, 4/27).
