In Cleveland, Paul Hoynes noted changes are “being made in who will call Guardians games on TV,” as play-by-play voice Matt Underwood, analyst Rick Manning and in-game reporter Andre Knott will “no longer do the majority of games together.” Other personalities “will be mixed into the broadcasts.” Over the weekend in Toronto, Al Pawlowski did the play-by-play and former MLBer Chris Gimenez was the color commentator. Pawlowski is a veteran of the Guardians’ pregame and postgame shows. Gimenez has “done some pregame and postgame shows.” As the season progresses, former MLBer Cody Allen will “do a road trip in the booth.” Former MLBer Ben Broussard and Pawlowski will do the pre and postgame shows this week (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 4/27).
RADIO SWITCH UP: In Athens, Marc Weiszer noted Univ. of Georgia football will have an “entirely new team in its radio broadcast booth starting this season.” Georgia baseball and women’s basketball play-by-play voice Jeff Dantzler is replacing Scott Howard, who has been on Georgia football games on radio since 1993, when he was an analyst alongside Larry Munson. Howard replaced Munson as the full-time play-by-play voice in 2008. Dantzler will be joined by former NFLer Jon Stinchcomb as analyst after Josh Brock served in that role last season.
