Point72 Asset Management founder and Mets owner STEVE COHEN is “creating an executive committee to help him lead the firm’s strategy and direction,” becoming the latest hedge fund billionaire to broaden leadership ranks. While retaining the roles of chair and CEO, Cohen will cede the president title to his co-CIO HARRY SCHWEFEL. The creation of an executive committee “mirrors similar moves at other multistrategy titans.” The changes helped those firms with “succession planning, which has been a challenge for many founders.” A Point72 spokesperson said that Cohen has “no plans to depart anytime soon” (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 4/30).

CENTER STAGE: The International Women’s Sports Film Festival is coming to downtown Portland from Friday to Sunday and will feature “movies, panel discussions and a social media star.” Friday night, which will feature BILLIE JEAN KING’s former doubles partner ROSIE CASALS and TikTok star COACH JACKIE, is “already sold out,” but tickets are still available for other events starting at around $30. Full-day and half-day passes are also available. On Saturday night, the festival will host “The Brittney Griner Story,” a documentary about Sun C BRITTNEY GRINER’s detention in Russia and “her work to help other detainees.” Festival organizers are a “who’s who of Portland business heavyweights,” including MISSY CAPONE, who put on large-scale events for Nike for many years, JENNY NGUYEN, founder of The Sports Bra, MOLLY KING, co-exec director of QDoc, investor KATE DELHAGEN and KIMIKO MATSUDA, founder of The Idea Factory (Portland OREGONIAN, 4/30).

NAMES: The Braves celebrated retired VP/Field Operations ED MANGAN during a pregame ceremony Thursday at Truist Park. Mangan has worked with the franchise for over 35 years. He has done the fields at all three of the Braves’ stadiums here: Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, Turner Field and Truist Park. Baseball HOFer JOHN SCHUERHOLZ was on the field for the presentation alongside the Braves’ grounds crew (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSITUTION, 4/30)....Phillies 3B ALEX BOHM’s parents, DANIEL and LISA BOHM, are seeking to have Alex’s lawsuit against them for mismanagement of his finances be “dismissed.” The “crux of the argument” presented by Bohm’s parents’ legal team is that the case “belongs in arbitration in Florida,” where two of the limited liability companies they managed on Alex’s behalf are incorporated, as opposed to where the lawsuit was filed in Philadelphia County (THE ATHLETIC, 5/1).
