Bucks co-owner WES EDENS has been caught in an “alleged extortion plot” after a “brief relationship spiraled,” according to Fanelli & Ramey of the WALL STREET JOURNAL. CHANGLI “SOPHIA” LUO was “indicted last year for allegedly trying to shake down Edens for more than” $1B by “threatening to publicize videos and photos of him having sex with her.” Her “litany of threats continued for months,” as Luo reached out to Edens’ family members, “told him she would approach investors, and pledged to destroy him.” Luo pleaded not guilty and was released on a $500,000 bond while placed under home detention. Edens has not “been named publicly as the target of the alleged scheme.” However, a spokesperson confirmed that Edens “is the person identified as Victim-1 in legal documents.” The spokesperson said that Edens “approached law enforcement out of concern for the safety of himself and his family.” They added Edens “expects to testify under oath at the upcoming trial” (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 5/10). In Milwaukee, Steven Martinez wrote news of the alleged blackmail came the same day as Edens’ daughter, MALLORY, was “set to represent the Bucks at the 2026 NBA draft lottery.” Wes Edens “attended the lottery but was not available for comment” (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 5/10).
