The T’Wolves unveiled their new logo and uniforms Sunday, and they have “mixed in the look from all their previous logos and uniforms dating back to the franchise’s first season” in 1989-90, according to the MINNESOTA STAR TRIBUNE. The new primary logo is not much different than the logo used since the 2017-18 season, a “howling wolf looking upward in front of a basketball with the North Star shining above.” Pine trees “have been added,” and the wolf is now “white, not gray, and the colors of the logo match the franchise’s original blue, green and white logo from 1989.” The words “Minnesota Timberwolves” have “been removed from the primary logo.” The trees logo was touched up in 2009 and remained in place until 2017, when the howling wolf logo debuted and the “trees were chopped down.” The Wolves in 2018-19 used a black version of their trees-era jersey as an alternate, and those returned as their Classic edition jerseys this past season. The T’Wolves also unveiled “what their new floor at Target Center will look like.” Much like the floor they used in the playoffs, the floor will be “surrounded by pine trees, and the lane is now painted simply black instead of blue, black and gray” (MINNESOTA STAR TRIBUNE, 6/8). Team officials say that this is “not a look back.” Minnesota-St. Paul-based KMSP-Fox’s Jeff Wald wrote it reflects where T’Wolves’ basketball “stands today: Bold, expressive and deeply connected to the fans and state that have shaped the franchise from the very beginning” (FOX9.com, 6/7).
