In Colorado Springs, Evan Rawal wrote it seems like the Avalanche could finally be “getting a new practice facility in the future.” Kroenke Sports & Entertainment Vice Chair Josh Kroenke said, “There’s one final hurdle that we’re in and we hope to have some information relatively soon. ... I don’t have an exact time frame, but we’re very close” (Colorado Springs GAZETTE, 6/11).
MAKING PROGRESS: In Dallas, Myah Taylor wrote the Wings have “made progress on a new practice facility.” Wings CEO and managing partner Greg Bibb said that the project site at Joey Georgusis Park in Far West Oak Cliff “was mobilized May 15 and is undergoing excavation.” Construction is “set to begin soon, with April 16, 2027, being the expected move-in date” (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 6/11).
SOLD: In Houston, Marissa Luck noted the fate of a downtown Houston homeless shelter is “in question” after the Salvation Army “sold its property near Daikin Park,” to an affiliate of the Astros, Dugout Properties LP. Astros EVP/Communications Anita Sehgal said that the Salvation Army will “lease back the site from the Astros until September.” Sehgal added that the team “plans to build a parking garage on the site,” in a project that is “expected to take about 18 months to complete” (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 6/11).
