The Tempo will play the Wings in Montreal’s Bell Centre on July 10 as part of the WNBA expansion club’s Tempo Cross-Canada Series, and a sold-out crowd “could set the all-time attendance record for women’s basketball,” according to Meghan Hall of USA TODAY. Bell Centre has a capacity of 22,114. That would “surpass the current record” of 22,076 set twice during the WNBA playoffs. The league’s postseason attendance record was set in Game 3 of the 2003 WNBA Finals between the then-Detroit Shock and Sparks and again in Game 5 of the 2007 Finals between the Shock and Mercury. Both events were hosted at The Palace of Auburn Hills. In 2024, the Fever and Mystics set the regular-season attendance record at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. with 20,711 fans in attendance. Hall noted the all-time attendance record is “at stake as well.” On January 30, 2026, Unrivaled set the record in women’s basketball for a regular-season game with 21,490 people at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia (USA TODAY, 6/23).
COLLECTORS ITEM: In Toronto, Mike Ganter noted Coors Light, the first official beer of the Tempo, is adding a “twist on a previous introduction” to its lineup. The newcomer is the limited-edition Tall Girl and it “comes in the same 473mL can size as the Tall Boy,” although this one is “made with the Tempo in mind and encompasses the Tempo team logo right there on the can.” The Coors Light Tall Girl will be “available at the Tempo home games on July 5 and 8″ at Coca-Cola Coliseum. Ganter wrote the cans are “bound to become collectibles” (TORONTO SUN, 6/23).
