The NHL today formally announced that the Senators will host the '12 NHL All Star Game. The All-Star events will be held Jan. 28-29 at Scotiabank Place ( NHL ). The city of
Ottawa
says that it will spend C$200,000 "to help subsidize the event." The Senators' previous efforts to land the game "were hampered in the past by a lack of convention space," but that "will be solved when the city’s new downtown convention centre opens in the spring" ( OTTAWACITIZEN.com, 9/15 ).
