Tennessee state senators today voted to legalize sports betting on a 19-12 vote, and the "previously passed House bill will have to return to the lower chamber because of Senate amendments." House Bill 1 "would allow and regulate statewide mobile and interactive sports gambling for persons ages 21 and over." The original bill, which "would have permitted brick-and-mortar betting shops, was eliminated from the measure" due to opposition from Gov. Bill Lee . Lee remains opposed to the bill, but indicated that he will allow it to "become law without his signature" ( TIMESFREEPRESS.com, 4/30 ).
