NHL Seattle and its key stakeholders have narrowed the franchise’s future name to an estimated half dozen options, sources said. Though the extent of the full list is not known, one suggestion that remains is Sockeyes. Sources cautioned that the name selection process is ongoing and as a result, names could be added and subtracted at a moment’s notice.
Club VP/Corporate Communications Katie Townsend said, “We are tracking to announce our team name in the first part of 2020. … We are currently going through a thorough process to narrow down the list of names. We’re assessing and evaluating each one. We will not comment on individual names.” Seattle-based brand advisory and management consulting firm Perch Partners has strategically supported the selection process.
