Pistons rookie G Cade Cunningham has signed a multiyear deal with cryptocurrency-focused financial services company BlockFi that "will pay the 19-year-old his endorsement signing bonus in Bitcoin." Cunningham, the No. 1 overall pick in this year's NBA Draft, "will collaborate with the company to produce educational videos, interviews and other promotional considerations to help promote financial awareness and cryptocurrencies." The sides "hope to reach out to different parts of the community that may not have had experience in cryptocurrency and financial flexibility." Since being drafted late last month, Cunningham already has "carved a niche with the Pistons fan base" (DETROIT NEWS, 8/19).
