Indiana Univ. (IU) AD Fred Glass yesterday introduced IU football's new "Kicks for Keeps" program, under which on "every IU extra point or field goal, the fan who catches the ball will get a ball," according to Terry Hutchens of the INDIANAPOLIS STAR. Glass said that IU "will likely swap the game ball IU kickers use for a regulation-size replica with an IU logo." Glass: "We're going to try to create a Wrigley Field kind of buzz with the opposing kicks where real Hoosier fans will throw those footballs back. With all of the footballs going into the stands, I'm guessing this could end up costing us a lot of money, but these are the kinds of connections I believe lead to people coming to the games and becoming lifelong fans." Meanwhile, Glass said that "any student with a valid ID from any college in the country will be admitted for $5, just like IU students" ( INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 8/19 ). In Indiana, LaMond Pope notes the school "will also institute 'red-light' specials." Glass: "At different times in the game, the red light will go on and hot dogs are $1 or the first 50 kids get a take-home megaphone. We're going to have fun with that" ( Ft.
