PPL Park Hosting College Lax Tourney This Fall To Benefit American Cancer Society

PPL Park in October will host the "inaugural Fall Brawl for a Cure college lacrosse tournament,” according to Kerith Gabriel of the PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS. The men's lacrosse teams from Villanova, Stony Brook, Loyola (Md.) and Siena College “highlight an all-day tournament" on Oct. 22, benefiting the American Cancer Society. Youth games will be “played on adjacent fields set up around the stadium” starting at 9:00am ET, and all four college teams “also will hold mini-scrimmages throughout the day.” Waterbucket Media President and former NLL Commissioner Jim Jennings, a "primary organizer of the event, is a cancer survivor who is in remission after undergoing treatments last June.” Gabriel noted the event will “serve as a preview into how big-time college lacrosse will look next spring when PPL Park will host the NCAA men's quarterfinals.” Philadelphia also will host the '13 NCAA men's Final Four at Lincoln Financial Field (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 5/5).
