Coke Is It: Barclays Center Signs Coca-Cola As Official Soft Drink Provider

Coca-Cola has signed a deal to be the official soft drink provider at Barclays Center when the arena opens in September ’12. Coca-Cola will exclusively provide all carbonated soft drinks, juices, teas and other select beverages at the arena ( Nets ). Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but sources said that they are “similar to the seven-year, $1.7 million per-year pact the arena had cut” with Jones Soda in ’07. Barclays Center has since “settled its contract with Jones.” In N.Y., Rich Calder reports fans “could be treated to special Brooklyn-themed flavored beverages” as part of the deal. Nets CEO Brett Yormark said that the team and arena selected Coca-Cola “because of its longstanding historical ties to Brooklyn.” Coca-Cola had been the official soft drink of the Brooklyn Dodgers ( N.Y. POST, 8/8 ).
