Impact Owner Joey Saputo on Thursday said that he is "part of a group of investors" whose offer to buy Italian Serie B club Bologna "was accepted" by the team's BOD. The CP noted the investment group "is led by" N.Y. attorney Joe Tacopina, who resigned as vice-chairman of Serie A club AS Roma "to pursue Bologna." Reports in Italy said that the investors "will inject" C$8.4M "immediately in the money-losing club" and another C$8.9M by the end of the season ( CP, 10/9 ).

MILE-HIGH MOVES : MLB.com's Tracy Ringolsby reported Rockies Exec VP, Chief Baseball Officer & GM Dan O'Dowd resigned Wednesday after telling team Owner Dick Monfort "thanks but no thanks" to a multiyear contract extension. Things were "no longer moving forward, and his value system is such that he wasn't going to keep a job just to have a job" ( MLB.com, 10/9 ).

MUSIC CITY MUSINGS : In Nashville, Dave Ammenheuser notes the Triple-A PCL Sounds on Thursday unveiled a new primary logo, and the public reaction "is mixed." The logo is part of the team's "re-branding as it moves to First Tennessee Park." The Sounds are the "first professional sports team to use Neon Orange in its color scheme" ( Nashville TENNESSEAN, 10/10 ).

THE KING'S NEW CLOAK : In Cleveland, Joey Morona noted blue the Cavaliers on Thursday "unveiled a new alternate jersey for the upcoming season," and the new navy jerseys "are similar, but not identical to the ones worn on a special 'CavFanatic' night back on March 18, 2012." The Cavs "will wear the new jerseys" opening night, Oct. 30 against the Knicks. The team "now has four uniform sets" ( CLEVELAND.com, 10/9 ).
