NBC Down Slightly From Blackhawks' Last Clincher, But Still Third-Best Game 6 On Record

NBC earned a 5.6 overnight rating for the Blackhawks' NHL Stanley Cup-clinching win over the Lightning in Game 6 last night, down slightly from a 5.7 for  Game 6 in '13, when the Blackhawks beat the Bruins to clinch the Cup. That game also was on a Monday night. Though down compared to '13, last night's rating ranks as the third-best Cup Final game on record (dating back to '95) and fourth-best NHL broadcast ever on NBC. The net earned a 4.0 overnight for the Kings' Game 6 series-clincher in '12 over the Devils and a 5.8 for the clinching Blackhawks-Flyers Game 6 in '10, which marked the best NHL rating in 36 years. Chicago delivered an all-time high 41.0 local rating for last night's game, followed by a 15.2 for Tampa-St. Pete, which was that market's second-highest NHL rating ever. Buffalo (10.5), Milwaukee (7.9) and Denver (7.6) rounded out the top five local markets for the game.
