SI has accelerated its usual publication schedule to chronicle the Cubs’ World Series win last night. The cover for the Nov. 14 issue of the magazine, featuring Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo and 3B Kris Bryant, was released five days ahead of schedule on SI.com and SI’s social media channels. Print copies of the magazine will be available to subscribers as early as Saturday. “Cubs fans have been waiting 108 years for this, so we figured it was only right to let them see their team on the cover of Sports Illustrated as soon possible,” said SI Exec Editor Stephen Cannella in a statement. “A historic moment deserves a unique and historic issue of SI.”
