USC Athletic Department Posts Revenue In Excess Of $100M For Third Consecutive Year

The USC athletic department listed at least $100M in revenue for a "third consecutive year," according to Joey Kaufman of the ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER. USC reported total expenses and revenues of $106.2M for the period covering July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016. It "showed balanced budgets" of $105.9M and $106.2M during the previous two fiscal years. USC COO Steve Lopes said that the growth in revenue in recent years "has stemmed" from the Pac-12's TV contracts and corporate sponsorships that "incrementally increase." Schools also "share revenues" from the CFP, which debuted with the '14 season. USC’s football revenue increased by more than $5M to $51.2M for FY '15-16. Expenses stood at $31.2M, a "slight increase" of about $600,000. Football was USC’s "only sport to post revenues exceeding expenses" (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 12/16).
