The Earthquakes hope to "work closely with Avaya for many years to come" despite the Santa Clara-based communications tech company that has its name on the club's stadium filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Thursday, according to George Avalos of the SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS. Earthquakes COO Jared Shawlee said, "We're very supportive of our partner, Avaya. Our partnership remains strong." An Avaya spokesperson said of the venue, which opened in '15, "Our commitment and partnership with the Avaya Stadium remains strong. We will continue business as usual" (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 1/20). Avaya in November '14 agreed to a 10-year naming-rights deal with the Earthquakes worth an average of $2M annually (THE DAILY).
