FBI Investigating Possible Fraud Within Univ. Of Minnesota Athletics Ticket Office

The FBI is "conducting an investigation into possible fraud" within the Univ. of Minnesota ticket department, according to Marcus Fuller of the Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE. A school official said that UM's Office of Internal Audit earlier this year "discovered some discrepancies in ticket transaction records." Former UM Ticket Operations Dir Brent Holck, who "helped start the Golden Ticket promotions program for men’s basketball in 2012, was fired in February within 24 hours of the audit's discovery" (STARTRIBUNE.com, 6/2). In St. Paul, Josh Verges noted UM hired Holck in '08 and "paid him a salary of $94,003." Holck’s wife, Jessica Holck, is Dir of Events for UM athletics. UM PR Dir Evan Lapiska said, "Based on our conversations with her, we do not believe she was involved or knew about this situation. If we believed otherwise, she would have been terminated" (TWINCITIES.com, 6/2).
