Sources: ESPN Targeting Fox Sports' Charissa Thompson For Mike Greenberg's New Show

"Thompson"

ESPN is targeting Fox' Charissa Thompson "to join Mike Greenberg on his new morning show" that launches Jan. 1, according to sources cited by Michael McCarthy of SPORTING NEWS. Thompson, who currently hosts "Fox NFL Kickoff" Sunday mornings at 11:00am on Fox during the season, is "viewed as one of the rising stars" in sports media. The still-unnamed Greenberg show is "shaping up as ESPN's biggest and most important new show launch in years," and ESPN is "throwing considerable resources behind the show." Greenberg is "working closely" with ESPN Exec VP/Content Connor Schell. The net also "brought back veteran Bill Wolff to directly oversee the show under Schell's direction." ESPN's sales team, led by President of Global Sales & Marketing Ed Erhardt, is "planning its own 'Greeny Upfront' to sell" ad buyers (SPORTINGNEWS.com, 7/25).
